3 Questions to Ask Before Your Child’s Appointment Ends
It’s easy to remember one last question once you’re back in the car. Save these three prompts before your next visit.
1. What’s the plan from here?
Ask what the next step is and when to take it. Before you go, try saying it back in your own words so the clinician can fill in anything you missed.
2. What should I watch for?
Ask what changes your child’s clinician wants you to look out for, which ones mean you should get in touch and which ones need urgent care. Write down the advice specific to your child.
3. When should we follow up, and who should I contact?
If a follow-up is needed, confirm when and how to arrange it. If a test was ordered, ask who will share the result and who you should call if you haven’t heard back by the expected date.
A small tip. Put the answers in one note and share the plan privately with the caregiver helping you follow through.
